Welcome Box
Environmental sustainability should not be just a buzzword; it's a necessity and requires the efforts of us all. And, as we collectively strive to reduce our carbon footprint and lessen our impact on the planet, businesses are no exception. One impactful way to embrace sustainability from day one is by making your employee welcome packs eco-friendly. On boarding materials allow a company to set out their stall on their brand, their values and the role of the company and the individual in our collective sustainable future.
Why is the Welcome Pack being eco so important?

1. Reflecting Your Company Values

The employee welcome pack is often the first tangible item a new team member receives. By making it eco-friendly, you send a clear message about your company's commitment to environmental responsibility. This demonstrates that sustainability is not just a slogan on your website; it's a core value that permeates every aspect of your organization.

2. Reducing Environmental Impact

Traditional welcome packs often include a variety of single-use plastics, paper, and non-recyclable materials. By opting for eco-friendly alternatives, you significantly reduce the environmental impact of these materials. Eco-friendly materials like recycled paper, bamboo, or sustainable fabric are kinder to the planet, producing fewer carbon emissions and less waste.

3. Positive Brand Image

Being eco-friendly isn't just about fulfilling an obligation to the planet; it's also good for business. Consumers and employees alike increasingly prefer companies that are environmentally responsible. When your new team members receive an eco-friendly welcome pack, it creates a positive brand image and fosters goodwill among employees and customers.

4. Encouraging Sustainable Habits

An eco-friendly welcome pack isn't just a one-time statement; it can encourage your employees to adopt more sustainable habits in their daily lives. Including items like reusable water bottles, organic snacks, or seed based plant-able stationery can promote eco-conscious choices beyond the office.

5. Cost-Efficiency

Eco-friendly materials can often be more cost-effective in the long run. For instance, reusable and durable items in welcome packs may cost more initially, but they save money over time as they don't need frequent replacements. This aligns with the principles of sustainability and fiscal responsibility.

6. Compliance and Regulations – ESG

In some companies, there are regulations and compliance requirements related to sustainability and environmental practices. Often referred to as ESG – standing for Environment, Social and Governance. By ensuring your welcome packs are eco-friendly, you can avoid potential compliance issues and demonstrate your commitment to complying with these regulations.

7. Team Morale and Engagement

An eco-friendly welcome pack can boost team morale and engagement. When employees see that their new employer shares their values and is actively taking steps to protect the environment, it can foster a stronger sense of belonging and purpose.

Employee welcome packs represent the first chapter in your employees' journey with your organization. By making these packs eco-friendly, you not only reduce your environmental impact but also align your company with the growing global movement toward sustainability. Your employees will appreciate the gesture, and your brand will shine as an environmentally responsible leader in your industry. So, it's not just about "going green"; it's about starting right.

SUMMARY: Comparing eco promotional products is difficult because of the range of materials used Carbon footprint is a measure which allows comparison Need to look at CO2 equivalent because of the use of organic solvents in promotional merchandise There is a difference between Cradle to Gate and Cradle to Grave in the measurement, because we never know whether the end user will attempt to recycle products  Pavilion is a specialist in providing branded promotional products, which are sustainable. The most common question we're asked, of course, is what's the most sustainable branded product? And how would you measure that? And that's a difficult question and often comes with hesitations. Why? This blog aims to try and explain eco credentials, particularly for promotional merchandise and how you might compare them. The first problem you have, is that you're comparing different materials. This is why it's difficult is because there's no true standard of sustainability. There is no international marking that says, this one's a 10, and this one's a 1. The nearest you have is carbon footprint. Carbon footprint generally means the amount of carbon dioxide measured in kilos, but you have to be a bit careful with that, particularly for promotional merchandise because carbon dioxide is not the only greenhouse gas. You may be fully aware that methane, natural gas has a global warming effect 50 to 60 times more than CO2. So, you don't need to measure just CO2, you've really have to look at a CO2 equivalent. In other words, converting the methane. And why do I mention that? Promotional merchandise is often printed and unless you are using water based inks, there will be solvents, and therefore, CO2 equivalent is what you need to measure. The next problem that you've have is what are you measuring the carbon footprint of? Are we talking what's termed - Cradle to Grave or Cradle to Gate? The concept is explained in the diagram.
