In truth most metal bottle openers can be recycled – although generally not through the normal household collection but your local authority should be able to help. The main issue is that they often have plastic element on them if they are to be branded and once this happens they will be rejected for recycling because of the mixture of components.

Using a wood or Bamboo for the body means that this part of the product is biodegradable but it is difficult to see how the stainless would be removed. Is this product ‘greenwash’? Well we still see it as better than a plastic and metal item and it certainly has an environmental ‘feel’ for branding purposes – for purists a bottle opener may not be the way to go.
